A mother and father who were killed by the government when she was a teenager. The government continued raising her and managed to wipe the memories she had up until that point. She still has a couple of memories but they are very hazy. She is told that she suffered a traumatic brain injury during The Great War when she served as an assassin and spy for Nyx.

She wants to be relied on. She wants to be useful to her squad, especially Spider Lily. She wants Spider Lily to look at her more and praise her more. She wants to regain her memories or at least find some sort of reconciliation in her past. She is so desperate to find out about her past that she has no regard for the present or her future.
Who or what do they love?
She wants to find someone who can provide the love and affection she desperately seeks. She looks up to and almost idolizes Spider Lily and is slowly starting to realize that she might be in love.
What are they afraid of?
She is afraid of herself. She recognizes how monstrous she has become, killing with indifference and apathy, relishing in the thrill of it. Killing has become a coping mechanism for her; allowing her to escape from the elusive childhood that she is chasing but can’t ever catch up to. The longer the war goes on the more she feels she will lose to the monster. She’s also afraid of the past and finding out what she was before she became a killer for the government but is simultaneously addicted to finding it.
Why do they involve themself in this situation?
She feels that this is the only way to regain her memories from before the war. Otherwise, she would have deserted a long time ago

The only ways she will die is if she either takes her own life or gives her own life to save Spider Lily.

Killing is the only way she can calm herself down and distract herself. However, she realizes how apathetic she is becoming and is afraid of herself. Sometimes she has to cry herself to sleep, hoping that she won’t wake up the next morning.

Rei will seem like a stereotypical jaded killer. However, as her relationship with Spider Lily progresses, she will grow fearful for herself and reach out for help. The player will see how much she struggles just to get through one day at a time. The more she kills the more apathetic she becomes towards killing. However, it eats away at her thinking how much of a monster she has become. Rei will also be searching for her past and her purpose in this world. As the narrative progresses, she will gain fragments of her memories back but will still be very scared to find the truth. Eventually, she will come to realize that no matter what happened in the past, she has people who love her in the present.
Relation to other significant characters
Will grow to fall in love with Spider Lily. Will start off passive aggressive to her squad mates but will grow to rely on them as the story progresses. These characters, especially Spider Lily, will give Rei a new lease on life, allowing her to live a human life instead of a military life.

She will be portrayed as morally ambiguous. She isn’t a hero, she’s more of an anti-hero that we sympathize with. She won’t go out of her way to inflict harm on others but if they stand in her way, she will cut them down before they can explain themselves.
